DMSP tends to be noisy in northern parts of the globe and regions with few cloudless days. At the same time, economic and population data are relatively robust for most european countries. In this case, satellite data offers little additional information. A few trends are nevertheless visible. Country borders are visible in the different degrees of illumination. Eastern Ukraine decreased in radiance.
